Baku City Circuit

Threading through the heart of Baku, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is a study in contrasts. Its defining feature is the enormous start/finish straight, one of the longest flat-out runs in Formula 1, where slipstreaming tows make for late, dramatic lunges into the heavy Turn 1 braking zone. At the opposite extreme lies the medieval castle section, where the track pinches to a barely car-and-a-half width as it twists between ancient stone walls. Unforgiving barriers line nearly every metre, and the slightest misjudgement ends races in an instant. The combination of long straights and tight, low-speed corners makes setup a compromise and racing unpredictable, with safety cars often reshuffling the order. Few street circuits deliver such reliable chaos.
