Circuit Zandvoort
Banking among the dunes
Carved into the North Sea dunes, Zandvoort is a throwback to old-school circuit design, brought back to the calendar in 2021. Its signature is the banking: the steeply cambered Tarzan hairpin and the dramatic Arie Luyendyk final corner, which feeds cars onto the start/finish straight at high speed. The flowing, undulating layout demands commitment and rhythm, while the narrow tarmac and sandy run-off make overtaking notoriously difficult. Seaside winds, blowing sand and shifting grip add a further variable, and the orange-clad grandstands give the race a fervent, festival atmosphere. Compact yet relentless, it punishes the smallest error and rewards drivers who trust the banking. A genuine driver's circuit in the modern era.
