Suzuka Circuit

Almost universally adored by drivers, Suzuka is one of the few figure-of-eight layouts on the calendar, its track crossing over itself via an overpass. The lap is a relentless rhythm test: the snaking Esses early on demand pinpoint commitment, the Degner curves bite hard, the long Spoon loads the tyres, and the legendary 130R is a flat-out left-hander that separates the brave from the rest. It finishes with the tricky Casio Triangle chicane, a classic overtaking and braking lottery. High-speed, high-commitment and punishing of any error, Suzuka rewards a beautifully balanced car. Autumn typhoons frequently threaten the weekend, adding a layer of weather drama, and the circuit has decided more than one world championship in its storied history.
