The story of Alexander Albon
Alexander Albon, born in London in 1996 and racing under the Thai flag, was a karting rival of Verstappen and Leclerc before finishing runner-up in the 2018 FIA Formula 2 Championship. He reached Formula 1 with Toro Rosso in 2019 and was promoted to Red Bull Racing mid-season.
After two seasons at Red Bull he lost his seat and spent 2021 as reserve, racing in the DTM touring car series to stay sharp. He returned with Williams in 2022 and rebuilt his reputation, repeatedly dragging an uncompetitive car into the points and establishing himself as the team’s leader.
In 2026 Albon continues to spearhead Williams alongside the experienced Carlos Sainz, as the historic squad pushes back towards the front.
