The story of Liam Lawson
Liam Lawson, born in Hastings, New Zealand in 2002, is a Red Bull junior who excelled across Formula 3, Formula 2 and Japan’s Super Formula. He first appeared in Formula 1 in 2023, stepping in for the injured Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri and immediately scoring points.
After further outings late in 2024, he was promoted to Red Bull Racing for the start of 2025 — but a difficult opening to the year saw him moved back to the junior team after just two rounds. He responded by establishing himself as Racing Bulls’ experienced driver.
In 2026 Lawson leads Racing Bulls in the midfield fight and mentors rookie team-mate Arvid Lindblad, the only first-year driver on the grid.
